If you are looking for a control system that can save space while not compromising on performance, as a professional supplier, our Feimu Technology Allen Bradley 1769-IQ16 CompactLogix series is the ideal solution for you. It perfectly fills the gap between microcontrollers and large-scale control systems. The 1769 series not only performs well in logical control but also can easily handle motion control tasks through the built-in network interface. Whether you want to upgrade old equipment or plan a new production line, the modules of this series can provide very balanced reliability.
This time, we have brought the Allen Bradley 1769-IQ16 series modules to our overseas industrial automation friends. This is a large family of CompactLogix control systems. Whether you want to build a new system or expand an old one, these modules are the indispensable core. As a professional spare parts supplier, Feimu Technology recommends this complete set of products covering power supply, CPU, communication and I/O to everyone. If you need them, please feel free to contact us to purchase at any time.
Product Characteristics
The most prominent feature of this 1769-IQ16 is undoubtedly the "unified backplane communication" and "plug-and-play" functionality. Unlike older PLCs, you don't need to manually assign communication addresses for each module. As long as you insert the module into the backplane, the controller will automatically recognize it. Another feature is its "electronic label" function, which stores its own model number, serial number and production date in the module. You can know it by connecting to the software and clicking, which is particularly convenient for the factory to do asset management, without climbing to the cabinet to read the meter.

Wiring Guide for 1769-IQ16
The 1769-IQ16 uses a 20-position removable terminal block. Each input channel has its own terminal. Follow these wiring rules for reliable operation.
Terminal assignment:
Terminals 0-15: Input channels 0-15
Terminal 16: Common (DC COM) for inputs 0-7
Terminal 17: Common (DC COM) for inputs 8-15
Terminal 18: Not used
Terminal 19: Not used
Wiring rules:
Use 24V DC power supply. Do not connect AC power to the inputs.
Connect the positive side of each sensor to the input terminal.
Connect the sensor common to the DC COM terminal.
Wire gauge: 0.5mm² to 1.5mm² (22 to 16 AWG).
Strip length: 10mm.
Torque: 0.5Nm.
Field issue example: A customer connected 220V AC to the input of a Allen Bradley 1769-IQ16. The module failed immediately. Cause: The module is rated for 24V DC only. Fix: Replaced the module. Used 24V DC power supply for all inputs. Always check the voltage rating before connecting.
Input Delay Configuration and Filter Settings
The 1769-IQ16 has configurable input delays. This helps filter out noise from contact bounce or electrical interference.
Delay settings in RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000:
0.5ms: Fastest response. Use for high-speed counting or rapid sensing.
1ms: Recommended for most applications. Balances speed and noise rejection.
2ms: For applications with moderate noise. Contact switch inputs.
4ms: For noisy environments. Proximity sensors with long cables.
8ms: For very noisy environments. Mechanical switch contacts with bounce.
10ms: Maximum filtering. Use only when necessary. Slow response time.
How to configure:
Open Studio 5000.
Go to the I/O configuration tree.
Right-click on the 1769-IQ16 module.
Select "Properties".
Go to the "Input Configuration" tab.
Select the delay time for each channel.
Download the configuration to the controller.
Common mistake: Leaving the delay at the default 2ms for high-speed applications. A machine with a fast-moving part (under 100ms cycle) may miss the input signal. Reduce the delay to 0.5ms or 1ms for these applications.
Channel Status LEDs and Diagnostics
The 1769-IQ16 has one status LED for each of the 16 input channels. The LEDs are visible on the front panel when installed.
LED behavior:
Green: Input is ON (voltage above 15V DC).
Off: Input is OFF (voltage below 5V DC).
Diagnostic checks:
If the LED is ON but the PLC program shows OFF: Check the input delay setting. If the delay is longer than the pulse width, the PLC will not see the signal. Reduce the delay.
If the LED is OFF but the PLC program shows ON: The input may be configured for reversed logic in the program. Check the configuration.
If multiple channels show the same incorrect reading: Check the common (DC COM) connection. A loose common affects all channels in that group.
If a channel shows intermittent readings: Check the sensor wiring. Check for loose connections. Check the sensor power supply.
Product Authenticity Verification
Allen Bradley 1769-IQ16 modules are commonly counterfeited. Use these checks to verify authenticity.
Front panel color: Genuine modules use a specific beige-gray color consistent with the CompactLogix family. Counterfeits often have a different shade or glossy finish.
Label quality: Genuine labels have permanent printing with the model number 1769-IQ16 clearly visible. Counterfeit labels often have blurry text or peel at the edges.
Terminal block: Genuine modules have a green removable terminal block with screws that turn smoothly. Counterfeits often use cheap plastic with screws that stick or strip.
Bus connector: All pins on the 1769 bus connector must be gold-plated and straight. Counterfeits often use tin pins or have bent pins.
Module weight: Genuine 1769-IQ16 weighs approximately 0.1 kg. Counterfeits often feel lighter.
