As a professional supplier, we offer you this Allen Bradley 1734-IE8CK. This is an 8-channel current-type analog input module specifically designed for industrial process control. At Feimu Technology, we understand that for many precise controls, analog data is the key. Without knowing the key, control will definitely not be done well.
Feimu Technology has specially prepared an advanced high-performance analog input module for overseas industrial automation professionals. The Allen Bradley 1734-IE8CK is a POINT I/O thermocouple input module that connects seamlessly to Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix systems through a POINT I/O adapter. This compact module can measure both milliamp signals and thermocouple temperatures, which can significantly simplify the wiring process on-site. As a professional supplier, we recommend this 8-channel module that supports multiple signal types and has diagnostic functions to all of you. Our aim is to enable you to easily handle high-precision data acquisition and temperature monitoring within limited installation space.
What are the advantages of the structural design?
This Allen Bradley 1734-IE8CK circuit board is particularly designed to resist interference. Each input channel is equipped with an independent filtering circuit, just like installing a purifier for the signal, which filters out all external noise. The internal chips are all selected from industrial-grade high-precision components, with excellent temperature resistance. The contact pins on the back have been thickened and gold-plated, with outstanding hardness and conductivity. Even if the base station experiences significant vibrations, there is no need to worry about poor contact and data interruption.
What are the specific features of the product?
Its casing is made of industrial-grade flame-retardant material, and the color is the unique gray-white of Rockwell. It looks very clean. The design on the front of the module is very simple. The most prominent feature is that the row of LED status indicator lights is very eye-catching. Whether there is a signal in the channel or there is a problem with the module itself, the illuminated state of the lights is clearly visible at a glance. The design of the base interface at the bottom is very ingenious, with a locking mechanism to prevent accidental insertion. When holding it in your hand, you can feel the tight grip. Overall, this thing is a high-quality component specifically designed for compact cabinets.

Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) – How It Works
The 1734-IE8CK has built-in cold junction compensation. This is critical for accurate thermocouple temperature measurement.
Why CJC is needed:
Thermocouples measure the temperature difference between the measurement point and the terminal block.
The terminal block temperature affects the reading.
Without CJC, the reading would be inaccurate whenever the terminal block temperature changes.
How CJC works on the 1734-IE8CK:
A temperature sensor inside the module measures the terminal block temperature.
The module adds this value to the thermocouple measurement.
The result is the actual temperature at the sensor tip.
CJC is automatic per channel. No external compensation wires needed.
Important CJC considerations:
CJC accuracy: ±1.0°C typical. Sufficient for most industrial applications.
Do not place heat sources near the module. Heat from other devices affects the CJC sensor and causes measurement errors.
Do not mount the module above hot equipment. Hot air rising from equipment below affects the terminal block temperature.
Maintain proper airflow. Keep ventilation slots clear. Do not block the module.
Field issue example: A customer mounted a 1734-IE8CK directly above a power supply. The thermocouple readings were 5°C higher than actual. Cause: Heat from the power supply affected the CJC sensor. Fix: Moved the module away from the heat source. Readings returned to normal.
Wiring Guide – Thermocouple and mV Signals
The Allen Bradley 1734-IE8CK uses a removable terminal block. Each channel has three terminals: TC+, TC-, and SHLD.
Thermocouple wiring:
Connect the thermocouple positive lead to TC+.
Connect the thermocouple negative lead to TC-.
Connect the shield drain wire to SHLD.
Shield must be grounded at the module end only.
Polarity is critical. Reversing positive and negative causes the reading to drop or go negative.
mV signal wiring:
Connect positive to TC+.
Connect negative to TC-.
Use shielded twisted pair cable.
Keep cable length under 30 meters for mV signals to avoid noise pickup.
Cable type recommendations:
For thermocouple wiring, use extension-grade thermocouple wire matching the thermocouple type.
For mV signals, use twisted pair shielded cable (Belden 8760 or equivalent).
Avoid routing thermocouple and mV cables near motor power cables or VFD cables.
Keep a minimum separation of 30cm from power cables.
Supported Thermocouple Types and Temperature Ranges
The 1734-IE8CK supports all common thermocouple types. Each type has a different temperature range and output characteristic.
Thermocouple Type
Temperature Range (°C)

Configuration tip: In Studio 5000, select the correct thermocouple type for each channel. If the selected type does not match the sensor, the reading will be incorrect. Always verify the sensor type before commissioning.
Module Status LEDs and Troubleshooting
The 1734-IE8CK has LED indicators for module and channel status. Use this guide for quick troubleshooting.

Action
Module Status
Green
Module powered and operating normally.
No action needed.
Module Status
Off
No power to module.
Check POINT I/O power. Check backplane connection.
Check thermocouple wiring. Check for broken sensor.
Diagnostic functions:
The module detects open circuits on thermocouple inputs. When an open circuit occurs, the channel LED turns red and the reading goes to over-range.
The module detects short circuits. When a short circuit occurs, the channel LED turns red and the reading goes to under-range.
These diagnostic functions allow the PLC program to detect sensor faults and trigger alarms.
Configuration in Studio 5000
The 1734-IE8CK requires software configuration in Studio 5000. Follow these steps to set up the module.
Configuration steps:
Open Studio 5000. Go to the I/O configuration tree.
Right-click on the POINT I/O adapter (1734-AENT or 1734-ADN).
Select "New Module". Select 1734-IE8CK from the list.
Enter the module position on the POINT I/O base.
Click "OK". The module is added to the configuration.
Double-click the module to open the configuration screen.
For each channel (0 to 7), select the thermocouple type.
Select the temperature units (°C or °F).
Download the configuration to the controller.
The module is ready for operation.
Configuration parameters:
Thermocouple type: J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N. Select based on the physical sensor.
Temperature units: °C or °F.
Filter: 50Hz or 60Hz (select based on local power frequency).
Data format: Engineering units or raw counts.
Common configuration mistake: Selecting the wrong thermocouple type. If the selected type does not match the sensor, the reading will be incorrect. Verify the sensor type before configuration.
Product Authenticity Verification
Allen Bradley 1734-IE8CK modules are commonly counterfeited. Use these checks to verify authenticity.
Front panel color: Genuine modules use a specific gray-white color consistent with the POINT I/O family. Counterfeits often have a different shade or glossy finish.
Label quality: Genuine labels have permanent printing with the model number 1734-IE8CK clearly visible. Counterfeit labels often have blurry text or peel at edges.
Terminal block: Genuine terminal blocks are gray and removable. The screws turn smoothly. Counterfeits often use cheap plastic with screws that stick or strip.
Base connector: All pins on the base connector must be gold-plated and straight. Counterfeits often use tin pins or have bent pins.
Module weight: Genuine 1734-IE8CK weighs approximately 0.1 kg. Counterfeits often feel lighter.
If the module shows incorrect temperature readings or the channel LEDs behave abnormally, suspect a counterfeit. Contact Feimu Technology with photos for verification.
